A 37-year-old man, commonly referred to as "2 minutes," is currently evading authorities by forcefully breaking through security barriers, following allegations of raping a 10-year-old girl (whose identity is being protected) within her grandfather's residence in Ovwor-Olomu Community, located in the Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The individual in question, a native of Oteri Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State who resides in Ovwor, has absconded from the town subsequent to being apprehended by local vigilantes.

As reported by the victim's father, the distressing incident took place on Sunday.

It has been discovered that the suspect, who is currently on the run, managed to escape from the town hall of the community where he was apprehended on the night of May 28th, Sunday.

During a telephone conversation with the press, Chief Joseph Aphia, the President General of Urhobo Orators, verified the report. Aphia stated that his wife noticed the girl experiencing difficulty walking and inquired about the issue. It was discovered that there were sperm stains on the daughter's underwear after she used the bathroom. According to Aphia, when his wife questioned her about the stained underwear, his daughter disclosed that the suspect, known as '2 Minutes,' allegedly raped her in one of the rooms within his father's compound.

At that moment, I was not present. My wife contacted me over the phone and informed me about the incident, but I advised them to remain composed to prevent the victim from fleeing.

Upon my return, I promptly contacted the vigilante and apprehended the suspect, escorting him to the residence of the Community Spokesman (Otota) on that Sunday evening.

The Otota conducted an interrogation involving my daughter and the suspect, who admitted to committing the offense. He attributed it to the influence of the devil and claimed ignorance of his actions.

The Otota ordered that he be given a thorough flogging and held at the town hall until his relatives arrived to take custody of him. However, if they failed to show up, the Otota instructed that he should be handed over to the police.

At the crack of dawn on Monday, May 29th, it was discovered that the suspect had forcibly broken through the burglar-proofing at the community's town hall and escaped. Consequently, I promptly filed a report regarding the matter at the Otu-Jeremi Division Police Station.

Aphia expressed that the incident has inflicted immense anguish upon his family, leading to his daughter's hospitalization and undergoing numerous tests.

In a voice filled with emotional distress, the father of the victim stated, "I will go to any extent to fight this case because this man has come to ruin my daughter's life."

As of press time, it was reported that the victim was in a stable condition.

When contacted, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, mentioned that he was not aware of any arrested rapist at the station. However, he confirmed that the matter had been reported and an investigation was underway.
