During his inaugural speech as the 16th President of Nigeria at the Eagle Square today (Monday), President Bola Tinubu expressed his commitment to safeguarding Nigeria from all types of terrorism and eradicating extreme poverty in the nation.

He affirmed, "My approach will involve the creation of jobs, ensuring food security, and putting an end to extreme poverty. I will prioritize the strengthening of anti-corruption agencies to effectively combat corruption."

 

Previously, Tinubu acknowledged the efforts of his predecessor and former President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that he has made significant contributions to Nigeria.

He expressed, "Allow me to extend a few words to my predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari. You have exemplified honesty and demonstrated patriotism as a leader. Buhari has given his utmost for the progress of the nation."

 

Tinubu took the oath of office as the sixteenth President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, while Kashim Shettima assumed the role of Vice President. At 10:40 am, Chief Justice of the Federation, Olukayode Ariwoola, administered the presidential oath, following the Vice President's oath-taking ceremony.
