Ramon Adedoyin, the founder of Oduduwa University, has been pronounced guilty of the murder of Timothy Adegoke by the Osun State High Court.

On Tuesday, under the ruling of Judge Adepele Ojo, the court sentenced Ramon Adedoyin, who is the proprietor of the Hilton hotel, to death by hanging. Adegoke, a postgraduate student from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), was murdered at the Hilton Honours Hotel in Ile-Ife between November 5 and 7, 2021. Judge Adepele Ojo, while delivering her verdict, stated that the circumstantial evidence presented in court strongly indicated that Adegoke was killed while staying as a guest at Adedoyin's hotel.

Justice Ojo commented that Adedoyin's choice to abstain from testifying did not work in his favor, as the circumstantial evidence had placed the burden of proof on him. She further noted that Adedoyin's refusal to testify indicated his acceptance of the murder accusation brought against him by the prosecution. The alibi presented by his counsel, asserting that the hotel owner was in Abuja for an extended period around the time of Adegoke's death, was dismissed by Justice Ojo.
