In a Kaduna Magistrate Court, Adeleke Abiodun, a 40-year-old resident of Barnawa in Kaduna State, was arraigned on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in a visa procurement scam worth N2.5 million. The defendant, Abiodun, faced charges related to criminal breach of trust and cheating.

During the court proceedings, Insp. Chidi Leo, the prosecutor, informed the judge that the incident was reported to the Barnawa Police Station on May 18 by Hannah Kehinde. According to Leo, the defendant allegedly deceived the complainant by promising to secure a visa for her in exchange for N2.5 million. However, it is alleged that the defendant misused the funds and failed to deliver the promised visa.

Leo further stated that the defendant's actions violated Sections 233 and 214 of the 2017 Penal Code of Kaduna State. In response to the charges, the defendant entered a plea of not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, approved the defendant's bail in the amount of N800,000. The bail required two sureties who must also reside within the jurisdiction of the court. The case was adjourned until June 27 for the hearing to take place.
