Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the incoming President, has disclosed the objective behind the visit of Tony Blair, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, during their meeting in Abuja. It should be noted that Tinubu and Blair had a meeting on Tuesday.
In a tweet from his official Twitter account (@OfficialBAT), Tinubu stated that the visit was centered around engaging in discussions concerning the shared interests between Nigeria and the Tony Blair Institute for Good Governance, an institute established by the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The tweet goes as follows: "Earlier today, I welcomed Mr. Tony Blair, the former British Prime Minister and founder of the Tony Blair Institute for Good Governance, at the Defence House in Abuja."
During our conversation, we explored various subjects of common interest and examined how Nigeria can further derive benefits from the remarkable endeavors undertaken by the Institute.
In the meantime, President Joe Biden of the United States has announced the members of his delegation who will be attending the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Bola Tinubu. A total of 65 prominent figures, including Heads of State, have been invited to honor Tinubu's inauguration. Taking place on May 29th at Eagle Square in Abuja, the former governor of Lagos State will be sworn in as the 16th President of Nigeria.
In attendance at the country's seventh transition ceremony, there will also be former presidents, diplomats, leaders of international organizations, notable individuals from Nigeria, and representatives from foreign governments and agencies. The inauguration events are scheduled to commence on Thursday with the conferment of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic on Tinubu and the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger on the Vice-President-elect, Kashim Shettima.
Anticipated at the esteemed occasion are delegates from Nigeria's longstanding allies, including but not limited to the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, China, Germany, Finland, Jamaica, Japan, Israel, Turkey, and various other nations.
