Yesterday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Bamidele Oleyelogun, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, in a High Court in Akure for an alleged fraud charge.

The Speaker's arraignment marked the start of his official trial. Oleyelogun, along with Felemu Bankole, a legislator representing Akoko South-West Constituency II, and Segun Oyadeyi Bankole, a civil servant, faced two counts of fraud charges.

The defendants entered a plea of not guilty to the charges brought against them. Following this, Justice Adegboyega Adebusoye ruled that the defendants should remain on administrative bail until the next hearing, which was scheduled for May 18th, where the trial would be heard in full.
