Yesterday, Ahmad Lawan, the Senate President, acknowledged that the security situation in certain areas of the country was worsening. Nonetheless, he recognized that the military had made commendable efforts in attempting to address the issue.

After Senator Istifanus Gyang from Plateau North highlighted the attacks by bandits in some communities in Plateau State, Senate President Ahmad Lawan made the comments. During a personal explanation to his colleagues, Gyang expressed his concerns that bandits had become so brazen that they give advance warnings before attacking their targets.

Lawan attributed the deteriorating security situation to inadequate resources, stating that "it is important for security agencies to prioritize maintaining security in areas that are potential hotspots."

"I concur with you that in certain regions of the country, the security situation has begun to worsen. However, I believe that despite the limited resources at their disposal, the military has made significant progress in enhancing security throughout the nation. We commend them for their efforts. Our top priority must always be ensuring the safety of Nigerians and enhancing their well-being," Lawan stated.

"I commend you for bringing to the Senate's attention the events taking place in your senatorial district," Lawan remarked. Following this, the Senate held a moment of silence to pay tribute to all those who lost their lives in the attacks.
