Professor Obiora Okonkwo, Chairman of United Nigeria Airline, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to learn from the successful election conducted by the Ndigbo Amaka Progressive Market Association.

During a visit by members of the Ndigbo Amaka Progressive Market Association to Abuja, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, the Grand Patron of the Association, emphasized the significant economic contributions made by Igbo traders, particularly those residing in Lagos State, amounting to trillions of naira annually. Okonkwo encouraged the association's members to enhance their visibility and promote their contributions to the national economy, aiming to gain the recognition they deserve.

According to reports, the association has a strong presence in more than 58 markets throughout Lagos State.

He expressed, "The way you conducted your election is commendable, and it should serve as an example for INEC to follow. As the national grand patron, I respected your autonomy during the election. Leaders should allow the people to choose their representatives.

This association comprises approximately 58 markets, with a significant number of members hailing from the South East. Your economic contributions amount to trillions annually. It is crucial for the government to acknowledge your group.

To gain the appreciation you deserve, it is essential to showcase the wealth and economic impact you bring to Lagos State. This association should receive recognition throughout Nigeria. Being a trader is not something to be ashamed of. As a professor, I teach about trade, and I myself am a trader."

Traders should take pride in their accomplishments. The Onitsha market has been instrumental in nurturing numerous billionaires. Personally, I owe my success to the Onitsha market, and traders from there have made significant contributions globally, bringing honor to Nigeria.
