During a CNN town hall in New Hampshire, former US President Donald Trump expressed his confidence in being able to resolve the conflict in Ukraine within a day if he were to be re-elected as president, stating, "I don't approach the situation in terms of winning or losing, but rather in terms of reaching a resolution."

According to Trump, he opposes the established Republican policy of supporting Kyiv and wants to put an end to the deaths of both Russians and Ukrainians. He declared that he could accomplish this feat within 24 hours if he were to be elected president again, claiming that the power of the presidency is necessary to do so. "I want everybody to stop dying. They're dying. Russians and Ukrainians. I want them to stop dying. And I'll make sure it happens," said Trump.

During the town hall, Trump maintained that he could bring an end to the conflict that started in February of the previous year by engaging in direct talks with both the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, and the Ukrainian leader, Volodymyr Zelensky.

Trump stated that he would hold meetings with both Putin and Zelensky, acknowledging that they each have their own strengths and weaknesses. He confidently asserted that he could bring an end to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine within a day.

During the town hall, when asked if he believed Putin to be a war criminal for purportedly committing atrocities in Ukraine, Trump refused to give a definitive answer. He argued that labeling Putin as a war criminal would make it more difficult to negotiate a settlement and put an end to the conflict.

Trump suggested that if Putin were to be considered a war criminal, it could intensify his fighting efforts and cause his supporters to rally behind him, making it harder to negotiate a peaceful resolution. He added that this issue could be addressed at a later time.

Additionally, Trump expressed his belief that Putin erred by invading Ukraine.

When pressed for further explanation, Trump replied, "His mistake was entering Ukraine. He wouldn't have done it if I had been the president."

Despite facing multiple criminal indictments and ongoing investigations, Trump, who is 76 years old, has already declared his candidacy for the 2024 election and is considered a top contender for the Republican Party's nomination.
