Grooming Centre, a microfinance institution, has announced its plan to award N20m research grants to a total of 150 students, consisting of 100 undergraduates and 50 postgraduate final-year students.

These grants will be available to students enrolled in both public and private universities across the country. The institution's statement highlighted that the grants will specifically support students engaged in research studies related to various areas, including microfinance, rural development, inclusive finance, social enterprise, MSME, and women in development.

The Center for Research in Enterprise and Action in Management is overseeing the administration of the research study and grants.

In its fifth edition, the non-refundable annual grants will be provided to support the research projects of the eligible recipients, without any status considerations.

Mr. Egulefu Chikezie, the Head of Project at Grooming Centre Nigeria, clarified that the submission period will commence on June 26, 2023, and conclude on August 18, 2023.

He clarified that the research study's emphasis should be on relevance to the Nigerian context, practicality, innovation, and its potential to advance any of the aforementioned areas of interest within Nigeria.

"The applicant must be enrolled as a student, either at the postgraduate or undergraduate level, in a Nigerian tertiary institution, conducting research within the specified areas."

"To be eligible, the applicant must be enrolled as a student in a Nigerian university or polytechnic that is approved by the NUC/NBTE. Furthermore, applicants must include a written recommendation from their project supervisor."
