"We are in the final stages of negotiating with NIPOST to utilize its speed mail service for delivering passports to Nigerians worldwide once they are produced".

Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola made this statement during the inauguration of the Nigeria Immigration Service Passport Front Desk Office in Auchi, Edo State. In a tweet from his official handle, the minister mentioned that negotiations with NIPOST for utilizing their speed mail service to deliver passports globally after production are in the final stages.

He highlighted that the inauguration of the passport office is the sixth one in 2023 and is aimed at "bringing passport application processing closer to the people." He further stated that their goal is to reduce the waiting period to no more than three days by opening additional front offices. He emphasized that the more front offices they establish, the shorter the waiting period will be.

Our future plan involves engaging private operators who will offer lounges for a fee, while the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) will provide the necessary equipment and personnel.
