During a media chat with reporters, Chuks Ibegbu, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, proposed that politicians should take their oath of office using African deities like Amadioha and Ogun.

Ibegbu believes that swearing in politicians with African deities would deter them from engaging in corrupt practices while holding public office. As a public affairs analyst, he called on the National Assembly to pass legislation that would allow politicians to take their oath of office with these deities.

He suggested, "I propose that all Nigerian political officeholders take their oath of office using African oaths that involve our deities."

He argued that politicians in Nigeria have become immune to the religious oaths of the Bible and Quran, and therefore, should take their oath of office using African deities to instill honesty and fear in them. Without such a measure, he believed politicians would continue to embezzle public funds and ruin the lives of the citizens. He suggested that if politicians took their oath with deities such as Amadioha, Ogun, and Chockonoze, they would be deterred from looting public resources. Therefore, he urged the National Assembly to enact legislation to allow this practice as soon as possible.

In addition, Ibegbu demanded the elimination of security votes and criticized the existence of immunity clauses and full-time national and state legislators, which he deemed inhumane and outrageous, as Nigeria bears the costs. He asserted that approximately 80% of Nigeria's resources are used to maintain unproductive politicians and elites, resulting in significant suffering for the masses.
