The Delta Strike Force (DSF), a militia group operating in Delta State in the South-South region of Nigeria, has asserted responsibility for the destruction of the Agbara-Otor oil wellheads located at the flow station in Delta State. The DSF carried out the sabotage with the aim of forcing the operators to halt their operations.
It was disclosed that the Delta Strike Force (DSF) had attacked the flow station at 10:30 p.m on April 27, 2023, and announced that it would continue its efforts to disrupt the activities of oil companies in the state until the Federal Government met its demands. The group, led by someone using the moniker "General Masskiller," accused the government of abandoning its members after they assisted in defeating the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) insurgent group in 2016. According to the DSF, the government has now awarded contracts to NDA's leadership while leaving those who helped defeat them in a state of uncertainty.
"Mass killer" stated that the Agbara-Otor wellheads bombing is just one of several actions taken by the Delta Strike Force (DSF) in response to recent attacks on other oil facilities, including the Afisere flow station and Kokori, both located in the Ughelli North and Isoko North Local Government Areas of the oil-rich state.
"Masskiller" declared that the Delta Strike Force (DSF) will continue to undermine the "ineffective and inadequate" security operations in the vicinity of OML 30 and 34 to maintain its aggressive stance. The group's spokesperson emphasized that the DSF will not cease its bombing of oil facilities in the state until its demands are met by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) and Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), which could eventually escalate to attacks on government infrastructure. The DSF's primary target, according to "Masskiller," is the Otorogun gas plant, which he warned would soon come under a "baptism of fire."
The group insists that for peace to be restored, several conditions must be met. These include the revocation of the pipeline surveillance contract for OML 30 and 34, which was allegedly awarded to Zane Energy through proxy. They also demand an end to gas flaring in the state, a commitment by the Federal Government to rehabilitate the East-West Road for easy movement, and the activation of the Delta Steel Company in Aladja to create employment opportunities for Delta youths. Additionally, the Delta Strike Force (DSF) is demanding that the pipeline surveillance contract be awarded to its members, who played a key role in defeating the Niger Delta Avengers in 2016, and that a thorough investigation be conducted to determine those behind the contract awarded to the Avengers.
The group is demanding that all the promises made by the Federal Government earlier in the year be fulfilled.
