On Thursday, in Birnin Kebbi, the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi, Lawal Abubakar-Daura, distributed cheques worth N49.6 million to 20 families of police officers who lost their lives while on active duty. The cheques were presented on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali-Baba.
According to him, the funds originated from the police's group life insurance program. The benevolent action of the IGP extends beyond providing assistance to families of deceased police officers; it is also intended to enhance the confidence and motivation of current members of the Force.
His statement indicated that the goal was to motivate serving officers to increase their efforts in combating criminal activities.
Abubakar-Daura urged the families to make wise use of the token to improve their financial situation. In response, some of the recipients expressed gratitude for the gesture and promised to use the money to better their families' circumstances. (NAN)
