Olamide Oladiji, a legislator serving his second term, has been elected as the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly.

At the inauguration of the 10th assembly in Akure, the state capital, Oladiji emerged as the Speaker. The Clerk of the House, Jaiyeola Benjamin, read the Governor Rotimi Akeredolu's proclamation for the commencement of the first session of the 10th Assembly, in accordance with the constitution.

 

In the course of the session, Oladiji, who represents Ondo East constituency, was elected as the Speaker, while Prince Abayomi Akinruntan was elected as the Deputy Speaker. Oladiji represents Ilaje Constituency 1.

During the session, Temitope Akomolafe, the member representing Ifedore constituency, proposed a motion to nominate Oladiji Olamide as Speaker, with seconding support from Abiola Oladapo, the lawmaker representing Ondo West 2. On the other hand, Princess Oluwatosin Ogunlowo, the representative of Idanre Constituency, nominated Prince Abayomi Akinruntan for the position of Deputy Speaker.

 

Expressing gratitude to the members, the newly elected Speaker, Oladiji, acknowledged and appreciated his colleagues for the trust and confidence they placed in him.

Oladiji expressed his commitment to collaborate harmoniously with the executive branch of government and extended his gratitude to both the governor and the state party chairman, Ade Adetimehin, for their exemplary leadership and unwavering determination.

 

"To my fellow colleagues, this triumph belongs to all of us. By electing me as the Speaker, you have showcased to the world that our legislators are actively pursuing our collective dreams and aspirations.

I pledge to foster a seamless relationship between the legislative and executive arms of government, with the aim of achieving resounding success."
