During a recent appearance on i-D Meets, Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema, discussed the prevalent trend of financial benefits being a primary motivation in many modern-day relationships. The Nigerian musician shared his thoughts on the matter.

Rema stated that his preferred lyrics from his first album 'Rave & Roses' are "Love is not a source of income" because it is based on his personal experience. According to Rema, many modern-day relationships are centered solely around benefits, and this inspired him to write the line.

He expressed his frustration with not being able to provide a clear definition of love, stating that each person's experience of it is unique and personal. He admitted that he himself has yet to fully experience his own version of love, but he remains hopeful and anticipates its arrival.
