IBM has launched a cutting-edge artificial intelligence and data platform called IBM WatsonX, aiming to empower enterprises in expanding and expediting the effectiveness of advanced AI using reliable data. The company's AI model is poised to drive the development of future-proof AI foundation models for businesses. IBM provides an AI development studio as part of its offering, granting users access to meticulously curated and trained foundation models, as well as open-source models. Additionally, it offers access to a data store that facilitates the collection and refinement of training and tuning data.

 

Julia Carvalho, the General Manager of IBM Africa Growth Markets, highlighted in a statement that African organizations are actively embracing AI opportunities and displaying a growing interest in expanding into multiple markets, particularly with the introduction of the African Continental Free Trade Area.

 

Carvalho emphasized the significance of a scalable and reliable AI platform like IBM WatsonX in driving regional bodies and governments to establish centralized trade information portals and cross-border payment infrastructure. These initiatives are vital for fostering increased trade and achieving inclusive and sustainable development within the region.

Arvind Krishna, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IBM, emphasized the growing power of AI for business through the development of foundation models.
