On Tuesday, a Magistrate's Court located in the Yaba district of Lagos State, granted bail to Seun Kuti, the troubled Afrobeat musician.
According to separate interviews with Seun Kuti's lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN), and the police spokesman in Lagos State, Benjamin Hundeyin, Kuti is expected to fulfill his bail conditions within 48 hours.
The Lagos State Police Command had requested a 21-day remand order for the Afrobeat singer but the court instead granted him bail. Kuti's lawyer also stated that once the police investigation is complete, the case should be transferred to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
After the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, ordered for his arrest, the musician surrendered himself to the police on Monday. Consequently, he spent the night at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba.
