President Muhammadu Buhari has granted approval for the awarding of the Special National Honours to 339 individuals, among them being Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media & Publicity. Shehu and Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity (Office of the Vice President), have been honored with the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) distinction.

 

Tijjani Umar, the Permanent Secretary of the State House, was also bestowed with the prestigious OON National Honour.

Bayo Omoboriowo and Sunday Aghaeze, who served as the President's Personal Photographers throughout his eight-year administration, have been honored with the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) and Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) respectively.

 

Additionally, the following individuals have been recognized for their dedicated services to the nation and have been included in the National Honours Award: Tolu Ogunlesi, the Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, received the MON distinction; Tolani Alli, Personal Photographer to the Vice President, was awarded the MFR honor; Adamu Sambo, an NTA Correspondent, and Emmanuel Anrihi, an NTA Cameraman, both received the MFR distinction.

 

According to a publication issued by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, the award recipients have been instructed to visit the Ministry's office on Thursday, June 1, 2023, to receive their certificates and medals.
