Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, a renowned Nollywood actress and director, has attributed the negative feedback her film, 'Ijakumo', has been receiving on social media to political opposition.

The movie, titled 'Ijakumo, the Born Again Stripper', initially premiered at cinemas in December of the previous year but was recently made available on Netflix last Friday.

Since its release, the film has garnered a mixed response on the microblogging platform, Twitter. While numerous users praised the movie's producer and actors for their outstanding performances, others criticized the film, citing various flaws.

One Twitter user, @alphaamary, expressed their perspective, stating that "Ijakumo is an incredibly captivating film crafted through intelligent scriptwriting."

In addition, @Babygyalxxx expressed her opinion, stating, "Ijakumo is the most pointless movie I've watched this year. This isn't even a matter of hate! Alakada, at least, was entertaining. I can't fathom that people actually paid to see this, seriously! Toyin, please consider hiring a scriptwriter, please."

In response to the unfavorable remarks, the actress asserted that a significant portion of the movie's critics were individuals who disagreed with her political stance in the 2023 Presidential election.

"Those of you who formed WhatsApp groups solely to discuss 'Ijakumo, the born-again stripper,' please feel free to carry on," she tweeted on Saturday.

Subsequently, Abraham offered an apology for her previous emotional response and urged critics to express their opinions about the movie "with kindness."

"To all those who truly cherish and value my work and may have been hurt by any of my previous tweets, please remember that I am only human, and I genuinely love each and every one of you," she wrote in a subsequent tweet.
