Tinubu had earlier been rumoured to have left the country to have an appointment with his doctor in London.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has returned to Nigeria from his trip to the United Kingdom.
Tinubu was said to have left the country for further consultations about his presidential ambition, which he announced in January.
This is coming less than four months after he returned to Nigeria from a three-month medical trip to the UK where he was said to have undergone knee surgery and “rigorous post-surgery physiotherapy”.
This time, after spending nine days in the UK, the former governor of Lagos State arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Sunday, February 6, 2022.
Tinubu had earlier been rumoured to have left the country to have an appointment with his doctor in London.
A source close to the politician had said, “He travelled abroad to rest after going around the country for consultations. He travelled to rest and strategise.”
But Tunde Rahman, Tinubu’s media aide, in a statement later said his principal went to the UK for “meetings and consultations”.
Recall that Tinubu, after months of speculation, threw his hat into the 2023 presidential race - he has formally declared his intention to run for the country’s president in 2023.
In his interview with State House reporters, Mr Tinubu said it has been his age-long ambition to lead the country one day.
“I have informed the President of my ambition but I have not informed Nigerians yet, I am still consulting. And I have no problem consulting. And I’ve not set a parameter of limitation to the extent of how many people I will consult.
“You will soon hear. All you want to hear is the categorical declaration. You’ve gotten that truth from me that I have informed Mr President of my ambition, and you don’t expect more answers than that,” he said.
