The Kwara State Police Command has spoken to the public that the three police officers, Abiodun Kayode, Mr James Emmanuel, and Mr Oni Philip, who were recently dismissed over the killing of a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, have been charged to court.
DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the command's spokesperson, In her statement released today October 18, said the dismissed officers faced charges of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide in connection with the death of Ishola.
She added that they have been remanded in prison custody pending further court proceedings.
The deceased Abdulyekeen Ishola, who was an ND2 student of Electrical/Electronics Engineering at the institution was allegedly shot dead by the police during a fuel hike protest in the Fate area of Ilorin on September 4, 2024.
The incident generated widespread condemnation which led to the transfer of the case to the police headquarters in Abuja by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
