During a meeting with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Cui Jianchun, pledged support from China to the Federal Government led by President Bola Tinubu, in order to facilitate the progress and advancement of Nigeria. Jianchun assured that China would provide assistance by sharing proven development strategies aimed at improving the well-being of Nigerians.

The Ambassador presented three documents containing these developmental strategies for Nigeria to consider, as stated in a press release by the Director of Information, OSGF, Willie Bassey.

 

In the statement, it was mentioned that the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Cui Jianchun, presented three documents to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and expressed the commitment of the government of the People's Republic of China to assist the administration of Bola Tinubu with effective development strategies that would positively transform the country's fortunes.

The ambassador emphasized the implementation of viable development strategies that have the potential to significantly improve the country's fortunes.

 

The ambassador highlighted that the documents encompass a comprehensive developmental strategy, serving as a blueprint for the country's progress. These strategies specifically address crucial areas such as infrastructure, ICT, industrialization investment, security, technology, agriculture, and more. Additionally, the ambassador conveyed his preparedness and dedication to collaborating with the current administration, with the aim of strengthening the bilateral relations between Nigeria and China.

 

In response, Akume reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to strengthen bilateral relations with the Chinese government in order to enhance development. He expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for providing scholarships to young Nigerians to pursue studies in China.

Akume also took the opportunity to appeal for an increase in scholarships, enabling more Nigerians to have the opportunity to study in China. He stated that the investment in scholarships would yield fruitful results, with a growing number of Nigerians becoming fluent in the Chinese language.

 

He further expressed his anticipation for the establishment of Chinese language faculties in Nigerian universities, where students can learn and study the Chinese language.
