The Edo branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expressed their appreciation for President Bola Tinubu's choice to eliminate petrol subsidy and implement a free-floating naira currency, commending his leadership.

During an interactive session with journalists in Benin, Tony Aziegbemi, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo, extended the commendation.

During the session, Mr. Aziegbemi expressed his belief that the implementation of these two economic policies would generate over N2 trillion for the country. However, he emphasized that the effectiveness of the policies would largely depend on the accompanying palliatives resulting from the subsidy removal.

As an economist, Mr. Aziegbemi stated his confidence in the viability of these economic policies, deeming them the most suitable approach to revive the stagnant economy.

Furthermore, the PDP chairman commended Governor Godwin Obaseki's administration for successfully fulfilling its commitments to the citizens.

Mr. Aziegbemi highlighted that Governor Godwin Obaseki has been widely misunderstood and stated that he has accomplished more for the state of Edo than any other governor.

Among the notable achievements mentioned by Mr. Aziegbemi are the governor's successful implementation of education reforms and the establishment of a health and technology hub where young individuals receive training in software engineering.

The PDP chairman also shared his optimism about the future, stating that within the next five years, Edo is expected to produce over 15,000 skilled software engineers who will develop programs for renowned companies such as Google and others.
