Iree, Mr. Abdul-azeez Abdullahi, a non-teaching staff of the Osun State Polytechnic, was stabbed by a yet to be identified man while invigilating an examination.
Report from an eyewitness who confirmed the incident to Osun Defender on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, stated that the incident happened around 3:00 pm last Friday at the Red block hall of the institution.
He also said the man walked into the hall after the students had been cleared for the afternoon paper, and began to constitute a nuisance, disrupting examination.
“The disruptive and offensive behaviour of the unknown man got unbearable and eventually prompted an invigilator, Mr Abdul-azeez Abdullahi to confront him to leave the hall, and this led to altercation between the duo and the unknown man broke one of the window louvres and stab the invigilator, Mr Abdul-azeez in different parts of his body, which include his back, hand and head,” His words.
“After he stabbed the invigilator, he made his way out of the hall and escaped. Thereafter, Mr Abdul-azeez Abdullahi was given a first aid treatment at OSPOLY medical center, before he was taken to Ore Ofe hospital, in Iree, Osun State,” the source added.
Dean Of Students’ Affairs of the institution, Dr Tope Abiola, confirmed the incident, he stated that the culprit is not a student of the institution.
“The culprit is not our student. we are aware of the incident and we are collaborating with the Police to ensure that the culprit is identified and arrested. However, the member of staff of the institution who was injured by the miscreant is recovering fast,” he added.
