According to President Muhammadu Buhari, he hopes that a greater number of Nigerian youth will take inspiration from Chef Hilda Bassey Effiong, also known as Hilda Baci.

In his message of congratulations to Hilda for breaking the world record for the longest hours of cooking and earning a place in the Guinness Book of Records, President Buhari praised the 27-year-old chef for transforming her talents and passion into a profession. He also acknowledged the positive impact her restaurant in Lagos has had on the economy, as well as her work in training other aspiring entrepreneurs. Buhari further commended Hilda for demonstrating exceptional resilience, perseverance, and consistency in the culinary arts.

 

The statement signed by Femi Adesina acknowledged that the restaurateur had a proven track record, having impressed at the 2021 Jollof Face-off Competition by creating delectable dishes that earned her the top prize. In addition, the statement noted that her victory also settled a long-standing dispute between Nigeria and Ghana over which country prepares the best jollof rice.

 

President Buhari is of the opinion that Hilda Baci's passion and determination have shed more light on the distinctiveness of Nigerian cuisine, thereby adding to its cultural significance and making it a valuable tourist attraction. He expressed his hope that more young Nigerians will take inspiration from her achievements. The President also expressed gratitude to the sponsors of the Hilda Baci Cook-a-thon, government officials (including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu), celebrities from the entertainment industry, and the chef's fans for their support in bringing honor to Nigeria. Finally, he wished Hilda Baci continued success in her career.
