The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) has extended the ongoing strike till further notice.

The Union took this decision after the National Executive Council meeting at the Union headquarters took place at University of Abuja on Monday morning, August 29.

Recurring, ASUU strike began on February 14, 2022, which was initially proposed to last for four weeks, however on March 14, ASUU extended its ongoing industrial action  by another two months to offer the government more time to address all of its demands.

According to report, a supposed one month strive has now entered its 196th day.

ASUU reason of going on strike is due to the inability of the Federal Government to implement previous agreements both parties had.

The lecturers agitations including funding for the revitalization of public universities, earned academic allowances, University transparency accountability solutions, promotion arrears and others.
