The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released information regarding the alleged score manipulation by UTME candidate Mmesoma Ejikeme, who reportedly changed her score from 249 to 362. Additionally, JAMB announced the withdrawal of her result.

JAMB, referring to Ms. Ejikeme's case as the "most pathetic" instance of deceiving the Nigerian public, has disclosed that she manipulated her UTME score to fraudulently obtain scholarships and other forms of recognition.

According to JAMB spokesman Fabian Benjamin's statement on Sunday, Ms. Ejikeme attempted to exploit the examination body's system. The statement clarified that she had initially requested her UTME result from the board's platform, but subsequently inflated her scores manually and applied them to the 2022 UTME result sheet.

In addition, JAMB stated that unbeknownst to Ms. Ejikeme, the design of the 2023 UTME result sheet had been altered, and her original score remained 249, as no alterations could modify it.

JAMB issued a warning about the existence of individuals like Mmesoma who deceive others, especially those who hastily confer honors on candidates without verifying with the board. The board assured the public that the Anambra student would face prosecution.

Furthermore, JAMB accused another UTME candidate, Atung Gerald from Kaduna, of falsely claiming to have scored 380.

"The board finds it necessary to clarify the situation and wants to emphasize unequivocally that a significant number of the results being flaunted by these candidates are fraudulent," emphasized the JAMB statement. "In numerous cases, these candidates had actually achieved much lower scores than they are asserting and had employed questionable software tools to manipulate their results in order to deceive unsuspecting individuals."
