The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued an order that all land borders be closed ahead of the general election coming up on Saturday, 25, February.
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Tony Akuneme announced this statement on February 23, that the NIS comptroller-general Isah Jere said that all border should be closed for 24 hours on the day of election.
As stated, the closure will be effective from 12am on Saturday, February 25, to 12am on Sunday.
His words, "Accordingly, all command comptrollers especially those in the border states are to ensure strict enforcement of this directive."
